Mobile hosted this national tournament at the Tennis Center. This is team tennis for 18 and under. Shot several days of competition plus a banquet on the USS Alabama.
Summit Racing Series

Drag racing competition was new to me. I have years of experience shooting stock car racing but the controlled explosion of drag racing is much different. After a couple of runs, I was comfortable with the dynamic swing that is required to shoot single camera drag racing. I shot this for SPEED Channel.
Inside Edition
Mobile, AL
After the LPGA event in Mobile 7 of the golfers signed with a modeling agency that will mold an image of these athletic beauties. I shot the story for Inside Edition using a still photo shoot as the basis for the story. The most impressive thing I shot was the golfers on the course. They really strike the ball well. We posed a shot that would have several of the ladies hit tee shots all at once. The resulting audio sounded like rifle shots going off.
FOX NEWS storm chasing--Gustav
New Orleans, LA
Worked for FOX NEWS as an audio engineer with my friend Richard Campbell shooting. Gustav was bearing down on the Gulf Coast. It certainly looked like New Orleans was going to take a cat 4 storm right in the bullseye. All the major players came in and the freelancers were used in secondary roles. The storm fell apart but I still got some good work out of it.
Boy Scouts of America Documentary

Worked as the sound engineer for a documentary about the recruiting of scouts in schools and churches. There are new ideas on generating interest in scouting.

Spent a long, long, hot day on the beach shooting professional volleyball. These folks really are in shape. Just try running and jumping all day in the sand. For that matter, just try carrying an HDV camera around shooting matches going on. It was a challenging day. I was tired but satisfied that I had done my job under tough conditions. Well......so there were some visual perks. It was a job and somebody had to do it.
truTv High-speed Chase Ends in Backyard Bust

Chickasaw Police had dashboard camera video of a chase that ended in a couple of arrests. I shot interviews with the officers that were involved. The dramatic lighting that the producers wanted was stuff I used to do in TV news. Hard shadows and heavy backlight is old school.

Shot the sea trials of this awesome ferry. Shot HiDef with a micro gyro attached to the camera. The video was silky smooth and way cool. This vessel runs with water jets like a skidoo. Killer helicopter pilot from Orange Beach Helicopters. Thanks Barry, you made my job easy.

A nice outdoor venue in the shade of the oaks in midtown Mobile hosted several of the area's bright stars of this family style music. The craw fish was terrific and so was the music. Mark your calendar for next year for an enjoyable day of entertainment for the entire family.

I went to the new Mobile night spot expecting to just lend a hand to the load in and out of the show, I was tapped to run the stage lighting for this country music legend. Nothing fancy but everything looked nice with no complaints from the artist. I was pleased because I have long admired Dwight Yoakam and enjoy his music. The show was two hours of non-stop hits.
Funk Fest

Big Show, WOW around 13,000 fans of funk danced the night away. Three camera setup to large screens helped the fans get up front with the groups. I ran the low angle camera in front of the stage.

Property developer that is building a resort on a former hotel site. Thanks to Katrina, they didn't have to demolish the building because Mother nature did that for them. Great day of shooting video along the coast but I'm amazed at how messed up things are over there. That was my first visit after the storm. Nearly a year later things are still in shambles.

Pensacola couple celebrates thier 10th anniversary by renewing wedding vows. Country rising star Jeff Bates is the featured attraction. This smooth baritone captivated the small audience at this private function. For a singer that is now used to filling arenas, Jeff and "Good People" personalized the show. Jeff shared moments from his difficult past and poured his heart out with some romantic ballads. Long Slow Kisses and Rainbow Man were just a few of the songs that have pushed this entertainer up the charts.

Worked with the high definition TV truck that came in to produce segments for Franklin Graham. The Festival brought many music acts to the stage over the three day event.

At home this week working for Sound Associates. Two stages of music at the Mobile Fairgrounds. Along with Headliner Dr. John acts included Cracker and the Subdudes. I also enjoyed a band from Austin Texas called Big Blue Hearts.
Springtime Tallahassee
Tallahassee Music Festival
Headed east for a two day mulitple-stage festival. Worked for Sound Associates as a sound engineer for the country stage. The first act Saturday morning was a real challange. The trio brought a broomstick wash tub bass that was modified with an electric pickup. The "drummer" played a set of cardboard produce boxes along with an assortment of other items.
The last band of the day was Johnny Fire. He calls the style Country Punk. Rock-a-billy with a heavy Johnny Cash influence, the band had the steet rockin' to their high energy show. Johnny Fire
The night ended and the load out seemed to go on for ever. On the way home we stopped to help another of the sound trucks that was stranded along I-10.
Hooter's Cup Racing

Brought the Mobile team to help with the TV production of the race. Eric Cavadel, Lee Abbett and I rolled up to Montgomery for a cold night at the races. Lee and I manned the press box cameras and Eric found his way into the production truck to run electronic graphics. A near record for cautions made for a long night.
Electrofest

OH My, three days of high energy electronic music. DJ's and Bands sharing the spotlight. Worked with Absolute Entertainment to shake the walls of Mobile's only underground night spot.Club Rampage. Of all the acts that we worked with I enjoyed Dead PA and Clear Static. They showed some musical skill and entertained the packed house.
